How to set up IPTV on Nvidia Shield

These steps work on the Shield TV (2019 “tube”), Shield TV Pro and older Shield models.

Fast, smooth and built for a TV remote. The Shield runs it better than anything else.

Install TiviMate
Open the Google Play Store, search for TiviMate IPTV Player and choose Install.

Add your playlist
Open TiviMate, choose Add playlist › Xtream Codes, and enter the server URL, username and password we sent you.

Choose your channel groups
Keep the groups you want, hide the rest, and select Done. The TV guide loads automatically.

A simple all-in-one player if you watch more on-demand content than live TV.

Install the app
Search for IPTV Smarters in the Play Store. If it isn’t listed, message us for the official download link.

Log in
Open the app, choose Login with Xtream Codes API, and enter your details.

Occasional stutter in 4K
Use the Ethernet port rather than Wi-Fi. The Shield has gigabit Ethernet, which makes 4K rock solid.
The picture looks too dark or washed out
Go to Settings › Device Preferences › Display & Sound and set Resolution to match your TV, with HDR set to “HDR only when needed”.

Is the Nvidia Shield worth it for IPTV?

If you watch a lot of sport in 4K, yes. It’s faster and more reliable than cheaper sticks. For HD viewing, a Fire Stick is fine.

Do I need TiviMate Premium?

No. The free version plays everything. Premium (paid to the developer) adds recording, catch-up and multiple playlists.
